Drake to Suspend Operations for a Week of Planned Maintenance
LOCK HAVEN, Pa.; July 24, 1998 - The Drake Cleanup Team will begin cooling down the incinerator Sunday, July 26, in preparation for what will be approximately one week of planned maintenance and regular inspections. Work during this period will include routine inspections and safety checks as well as repair or replacement of worn components. The major component scheduled for replacement due to routine wear is the set of feed screws that transfer contaminated soil into the incinerator kiln. Since beginning full production on March 4, the team has processed more than 82,000 tons of contaminated soil from this former chemical plant site.
