RECORD OF DECISION
BERKLEY PRODUCTS SUPERFUND SITE
On June 28, 1996, EPA issued its Record of Decision for the Berkley Products Superfund Site, located one and a half miles northeast of Denver in West Cocalico Township. The Record of Decision explains how EPA plans to clean up the site contamination. EPA plans to:
- consolidate landfill wastes;
- install a cap over the landfill area;
- place a temporary fence around the site when waste will be exposed and when construction equipment will be present;
- during the design phase, determine the components of a permanent security barrier;
- place deed restrictions and ordinances on the site to limit use of the property;
- monitor groundwater, surface water runoff, and leachate springs and seeps every year;
- monitor residential wells twice a year.
