Walter Reed - Final Permit (PDF) 20pp, 39K About PDF NPDES Permit Issued for DC as FY2008 Priority Permit - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) minor permit to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, to allow the facility to discharge industrial process water from Building 2 to the District of Columbia Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4). This action completes the DC FY2008 priority permit issuance requirement. The DC District Department of the Environment, as the certifying authority, certified the permit as being in conformance with water quality standards and the DC Water Pollution Control Act. The permit term, effective August 1, 2008, is for five years.

Washington Aqueduct - Final Permit (PDF) 29pp, 1.16MB About PDF The U.S. EPA Region 3 has reissued a permit for the discharge of residual treatment solids and other waste streams associated with the manufacture and distribution of drinking water in the District of Columbia. The U.S. Corps of Engineers owns and operates the Dalecarlia and McMillan water Treatment plants which supply potable water to approximately one million residents of the District of Columbia, Arlington county, the City of Falls Church and portions of Fairfax County and Maryland. Raw water flows by gravity from the Great Falls intake to the Dalecarlia Reservoir, a 46 acre earthen basin. Water from the reservoir is delivered to the Dalecarlia Treatment plant and the georgetown Reservoir where it is transferred to the MacMillan plant. The permit contains water-quality and technology based requirements for seven outfalls associated with the treatment or transfer of the drinking water. Learn more (PDF) 24pp, 122K About PDF
