The goals of the Land and Chemicals Division are to protect the air from asbestos emissions, and water and land from inefficient hazardous waste practices; to conserve energy and natural resources through recycling and recovery; to protect the public from pesticide misuse or contaminants; to protect children from the hazards of lead-based paint and other environmental contaminants; and to regulate underground storage tanks containing petroleum or hazardous substances.
