1. Updated Study Area

Sampled approximately 500 properties
-
Two-hundred fourteen properties contain soil lead concentration of 500 mg/kg or less and do not require soil clean-ups.
-
Seventy-eight properties contain soil lead concentrations of 1200 mg/kg or greater.
a. Seventy-one out of the 78 properties have been cleaned-up or are currently
undergoing soil clean-ups. - Approximately 208 properties contain soil lead concentrations between 500 mg/kg and 1200 mg/kg. These properties will be evaluated as part of the Step Two Investigation.
b. Seven out of the 78 properties will be addressed in subsequent clean-ups.
2. Progress of the Residential Soil Clean-ups
-
Completed 19 properties in October 2000
- Fifty-tow properties are currently undergoing soil clean-ups.
a. 4 properties will begin soil excavation shortly.
b. 5 properties have started soil excavation.
c. 3 properties have started soil backfill and re-seeding
d. 9 properties completed thus far.
- Soil staging area.

Complete the soil clean-ups of the 52 properties by Oct. 2002.
3. Status of Berhnart Park
-
Clean-up postponed until at least next year.
4. Step Two Investigation
-
Determine site-specific clean-up levels that will be protective of human health and the environment.
-
Focus on target groups (i.e., children seven years old or younger and pregnant women).
-
Additional environmental sampling (e.g., tap water, house dust, lead-based paint screening).
-
Blood Lead Study.

- Complete Step Two Investigation by Spring 2003.
- Apply site-specific clean-up levels to the remaining homes.
- Commence another round of residential soil clean-ups in Spring/Summer 2003.
