How is the EPA Region 3 Lead Paint Program Attacking Childhood Lead Poisoning?
EPA Region 3 does
the following activities to combat childhood lead poisoning:
- Supports each Region 3 State in addressing childhood lead poisoning by giving Grants and approving Lead worker, inspector, risk assessor and project designer training & certification requirements in each State
- Provides assistance to targeted Region 3 Communities
- Enforces federal/State lead laws

Characterizes the risk of lead poisoning in the Region

Supports development of national policy, regulations, research and programs to address childhood lead poisoning

Assists the public in complying with federal/State lead laws

EPA Headquarters (EPA) Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)- identifies and regulates sources of lead exposure in consumer products
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)- Sets standards for evaluation and management of lead in federally assisted housing, and promotes efforts to reduce lead hazards in privately owned housing. In addition, provides grants to communities to reduce lead hazards in housing.
