Mid-Atlantic Lead Paint

• Supports each Region 3 State in addressing childhood lead poisoning by giving Grants and approving Lead worker, inspector, risk assessor and project designer training & certification requirements in each State
• Provides assistance to targeted Region 3 Communities
• Enforces federal/State lead laws

• Characterizes the risk of lead poisoning in the Region 

• Supports development of national policy, regulations, research and programs to address childhood lead poisoning

EPA Headquarters (EPA)

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) - identifies and regulates sources of lead exposure in consumer products

Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) - Sets standards for evaluation and management of lead in federally assisted housing, and promotes efforts to reduce lead hazards in privately owned housing.  In addition, provides grants to communities to reduce lead hazards in housing.

• Assists the public in complying with federal/State lead laws

  Help available to those who own, manage, lease and sell pre-1978 housing in Region 3

  Help available to those who renovate pre-1978 houses, including painters, carpenters, electricians and other renovators
