The Region 3 Waste Minimization Program sponsors free workshops and conferences for all members of the regulated community and for Federal, State and Local government employees.

Past Conferences and Training
- May 7, 2009 - "PCB Challenge Forum" - held at the Hyatt Regency in Philadelphia, PA. The conference was designed to assist firms to achieve compliance with regulations, redue the use of authorized PCB transformers, and provide information on ways in which firms may be able to obtain mitigation of potential penalties associated with the unauthorized use of PCB transformers.
- May 17, 2006 – "Opportunities
for Priority Chemical Reduction in the Iron and Steel Sectors: A Dialog
with Steel, Foundry, and Scrap Industry Leaders on Waste Minimization
Opportunities for Priority Chemical Reductions in Waste Streams from
Melting Operations" [PDF, 36.2KB, 1 page, about pdf].
The workshop provided an understanding of issues related to the iron
and steel sectors, as well as innovative ideas for industry to reduce
the presence of priority chemicals in waste streams from melting operations.
- October 25, 2005 – “NPEP Awards Ceremony”. The first
annual NPEP Awards Ceremony was held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Crystal
City, Virginia. NPEP
partners who have completed their enrollment goals and submitted success
stories received NPEP Achievement Awards. NPEP also hosted the first
National NPEP Workshop in concert with the Awards Ceremony. The Workshop
focused on training and sector issues presented by Regional and State
Waste Minimization staff.
- August 10, 2005 - "Opportunities
for Napthalene Reduction in Coatings and Solvents: A Dialog with Coil
Coatings and Coating Industry Leaders on Waste Minimization Opportunities
for Napthalene Reduction in Coatings and Solvents" held at the Villanova University Center for the Environment, located
at 800 Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA. The workshop provided an understanding
of the issues related to the Coil Coating Industry and innovative ideas
for industry to reduce Napthalene presence in coatings and solvents.

- November 18, 2004 - "Advances
in Lead Free Solder: A Dialog with Electronics Industry Leaders on Lead
Free Technologies to Comply with the European Union RoHS Directive",

an understanding of the issues related to the European Union RoHS Directive

Director of the Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center, provided three
