- EPA is releasing the Western Michigan Ozone Study required by section 996 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The Energy Policy Act requires EPA to conduct “a demonstration project to address the effect of transported ozone and ozone precursors in Southwestern Michigan.” The purpose of this report is to address this requirement by reviewing the ozone problem in Western Michigan and discussing what it will take to meet the federal air quality standards for ozone.
