Region 5 Permitting Authorities
U.S. EPA has granted the authority to issue construction and operating permits to all six Region 5 States. In some instances, local (municipal or county) agencies may have the authority to issue air permits within their jurisdiction. U.S. EPA works with the States to ensure that permits meet federal requirements and that permits are consistent with those in other States.
