Boat Demolition
An iron claw excavator and a guillotine from a barge in the harbor
were used to demolish ten wooden boats, one steel tug, and several
barges from the former Herman Melville Shipyard. The boats were
demolished and removed to make way for the dredging of PCB-contaminated
harbor sediment. Work began in March 2002 and was complete in July
2002.
