Community Involvement
|
The Superfund program includes an aggressive citizen involvement component that enables those who live near a site to get involved in the cleanup of contamination by participating in the critical decisions that may affect their health and the environment. Superfund's Community Involvement Coordinators reach out to community residents, local and state leaders, and environmental and citizen groups to identify the public's concerns, to keep interested citizens informed and involved, and to work with EPA's technical staff to be sure that issues and concerns are considered and addressed. The EPA New England Superfund community involvement staff are available to answer any questions regarding a Superfund site in your community or an area that you think may be a site. Once a Superfund site has been identified, the Community Involvement Process begins. |
