Rewarding Voluntary Discovery, Disclosure, Correction, and Prevention of Violations
Did you recently conduct a voluntary environmental audit of your facility and find violations?
Do you believe that it is only a matter of time before a regulatory agency finds out?
If you answer yes to both of these questions, you might want to take advantage of EPA's Voluntary Audit Policy. Under which, EPA can reduce or eliminate civil penalties provided certain conditions are met.
Attention Construction Companies and Developers
EPA urges you to consider self-audits in light of recent enforcement actions
Construction companies take heed. EPA has levied fines totaling $205,000 against eight Puerto Rico construction companies for their failure to follow federal stormwater regulations. Also, two New York landowners will pay a $50,000 fine, and create two acres of new wetlands and a new stream as a result of illegally filling and disrupting part of large tract of wetlands on their property. By voluntarily conducting self-audits and disclosing any violations found to EPA under our Audit Policy you may be able to avoid similar penalties. Don't delay. Download "Managing Your Environmental Responsibilities: A Planning Guide for Construction and Development" which includes self-audit checklists and start your self-audit today.
