AUDIT POLICY CASES
Since the start of the Audit Policy program, Region 2 has received 130 Audit Policy disclosures from facilities throughout the region. More than half of those disclosures have been resolved. For those cases in which relief from penalties per the Audit Policy has been granted, the aggregate amount of penalties waived totals $3,390,489.In the Region's colleges and universities initiative alone, 47 campuses in New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico, have submitted disclosures to EPA under the Audit Policy to date. Of those, 28 have been closed or partially closed and potential aggregated penalties of over $922,000 have been waived.
Below you will find a list of Region 2 cases which have been negotiated successfully under U.S. EPA's Audit Policy. Please note that there may be a delay between the date when a new case settles and the date it is posted here. This page was last updated on Thursday, December 12, 2001.
To be included in this list a case must satisfy two criteria: (1) the case involved violations to which EPA's Audit Policy was applicable, and (2) the regulated entity involved in the case was granted some level of relief from gravity-based penalties under the Policy. Accordingly, cases to which the Audit Policy did not apply and/or in which no relief was granted are not included here. Cases are organized by date of resolution, with the most recent resolutions being at the top.
