- Northeast
Waste Management Officials' Association (NEWMOA)
NEWMOA is a regional organization that works to coordinate interstate hazardous waste, solid waste, and pollution prevention activities, and to support state waste programs. NEWMOA is actively working to improve state understanding of C&D generation, processing, capacity, end-use markets, and interstate flow; as well as developing effective strategies to improve management and increase beneficial uses. The Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) is a nonprofit organization which promotes source reduction, recycling, and the purchasing of environmentally preferable products and services.
- New York Wa$teMatch
With support from EPA Region 2, New York Wa$teMatch manages a citywide materials exchange program, provides technical assistance with solid waste reduction and environmentally preferable purchasing, and conducts research and development projects. Additional funding is provided by the New York City Department of Sanitation and Empire State Development's Environmental Services Unit. The programs participants include New York City businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. Since its inception in 1997, New York Wa$teMatch has diverted 15,000 tons of materials from landfills and helped program participants realize $2.3 million in savings and revenues. In addition, New York Wa$teMatch has conducted a number of research projects related to materials efficiency and resource recovery strategies for specific industries, as well as environmentally-sound business development opportunities. - Taylor Recycling

Taylor Recycling is a waste recovery company headquartered in Montgomery, New York. The company's principal facility, located 70 miles north of New York City, houses one of the most unique C&D recycling operations in the world. Over 95 percent of the waste received is converted into valuable end products for sale to the general public including mulch, crushed stone, soil, gypsum, paper, metal, and cardboard. The Web site also contains links to valuable information on Green Building practices.

- Hudson Valley Materials
Exchange
The Hudson Valley Materials Exchanges (HVME) is a nonprofit redistribution center for materials suitable for art, education, and construction. HVME was created as a waste prevention measure to distribute reusable business "waste" and a resource for supplying a variety of unique and interesting low cost materials for a multitude of use, the HVME has grown annually. HVME's services include waste assessments, distribution of reusable business waste, and workshops illustrating possible uses for materials. The organization also operates a "Community Warehouse" in Orange County, New York.

Center
A nonprofit community warehouse for materials for arts/education.
- Materials for the Arts
This nonprofit organization run by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs provides arts programs with materials gathered from companies that no longer need them. In the process, the organization removes hundreds of tons from the New York City sanitation system.
- Tools for Schools,
Inc.
This nonprofit organization handles office furniture, computers, and supplies for schools.
- Freecycle
The Freecycle Network is nonprofit organization whose mission includes keeping good stuff out of landfills and helping strengthen local gifting and recycling communities. The online database includes most counties in New York including several in the Hudson Valley.
