Monitoring

Monitoring comprises the collection of environmental samples and the evaluation of environmental data for the laws and regulations that EPA is mandated to implement and enforce. The monitoring efforts are very wide ranging covering all of the different environmental media.

Regional Volunteer Monitoring Program

EPA Region 2 promotes and supports volunteer monitoring by assisting development of watershed organizations, mobilizing skilled volunteers for more effective water protection, and by providing coordination and leadership among existing federal, state and citizen monitoring programs.
