Paints and Coating Industry
The Paints and Coatings Resource Center provides regulatory compliance and pollution prevention information to individual organic coating facilities, industry vendors and suppliers, and others. The center includes a Regulatory Locator to help users find relevant state and federal regulations as well as a technical database with over 5,000 full text conference papers and journal articles.
Coating Alternatives Guide (CAGE)
- is a pollution prevention tool for paints and coatings users. It contains
an Expert System designed to recommend low-volatile organic compound/
hazardous air pollutant coatings that may serve as drop-in replacements
for a user's existing coating operation. These is also an up-to-date information
base on various coating alternatives.
Alternatives to Solvent-Based Coatings (1994) - This fact sheet developed by the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) summarizes alternatives to solvent-based coatings. It describes the composition of these alternatives and some use considerations and includes an alternatives matrix that provides comparative information on each alternative, including operational, cost and quality considerations. Pollution Prevention in the Paints and Coatings Industry (1996. free) This manual presents recommended practices for minimizing the generation of pollution in paints and coatings operations. The majority of these strategies can be implemented without the need for major capital expenditures. Often by modifying the approach to a conventional practice, considerable waste and cost reduction benefits can be realized.
