Regional Commitments

Applicants must commit to four quantitative goals for improving their environmental performance.  Small facilities (50 or fewer employees) commit to two goals.

Commitments range from reductions in solid waste and water use to land restoration projects. Commitments are usually normalized [PDF 301 KB, 27 pp] goals that are expected to be achieved over the course of the three year membership. Applicants choose their commitments from the Environmental Performance Table [PDF 232 KB, 3 pp]. Moreover, when facilities are choosing commitments, they may wish to choose commitments within its watershed area in Region 2 which include:

Barnegat Bay Watershed [PDF 18 KB, 1 pp]
Delaware Estuary Watershed [PDF 18 KB, 1 pp]
New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Watershed [PDF 56 KB, 1 pp]
San Juan Bay Estuary Watershed [PDF 16 KB, 1 pp]
Peconic Estuary Watershed [PDF 18 KB, 1 pp]
Long Island Sound Watershed [PDF 21 KB, 1 pp]
New York City Watershed [PDF 49 KB, 1 pp]
Lake Ontario Basin [PDF 17 KB, 1 pp]

The following are some additional ideas applicants and renewing members can use to choose their commitments:

Resource Conservation Challenge [PDF 3.4 MB, 21 pp]
Electronics Management [PDF 619 KB, 21 pp]
Diesel Collaborative [PDF 1.3 MB, 21 pp]

Challenge Commitments
Challenge Commitments encourage members to address specific regional and national environmental priorities.  Challenge commitments count as two performance commitments; thus, members that adopt a challenge commitment need only set three environmental performance commitments rather than four.  Although small facilities are encouraged to choose a challenge commitment, these facilities must have a minimum of two commitments.  See Region 2 Challenge Commitments for more information.
