Site Investigation Methods: Yes
Investigations are being performed in accordance with NJDEP standards. Under New Jersey's Voluntary Cleanup Program, the property owner or person with an interest in the property contacts NJDEP and enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) concerning the site. This MOU outlines the steps and methods to be used in the investigation. Upon completion of a Preliminary Assessment, items of concern are noted. These concerns are discussed with a NJ DEP case manager who recommends the specific level of investigation for those concerns. The contractor then prepares a "Site Investigation Work Plan" which identifies the specific methodology to be used in the investigation. This "Work Plan" must be approved by NJDEP prior to the beginning of investigation. If the Site Investigation raises additional concerns (such as the actual size of the contaminated area) then the contractor must perform the additional work or invalidate the MOU. At the completion of the investigation, the initiator may continue to a remedial strategy followed by a no further action letter, or may opt not to continue.
