Newark has approved a Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund grant for a contract with Malcolm Pirnie to conduct assessment and investigation of the site. However Newark does not yet have a contract with Malcolm Pirnie, because of outstanding insurances issues. Nevertheless, Malcolm Pirnie has completed about 70% of the Preliminary Assessment for the site. The soil sampling at the site, conducted by New Jersey Institute of Technology under the Pilot's Area Wide Characterization Project will not duplicate work performed under the PA/SI consultant contract.
