Storage tanks At the Horseshoe Road site, contaminated soils were found to be the source of ground water contamination. In this picture, grey-colored soils to the right are contaminated and must be removed.
Crews wear protective gear during cleanup, and the type of gear needed depends on the degree of contamination at the site. Areas of the Horseshoe Road site were so contaminated that crews needed to wear sealed suits and respirator masks during parts of the cleanup. After removing contaminated soil, crews will build wetlands at the site. In this picture, stakes with flags outline areas that will be dug deeper to become wetlands.
