By taking home our message of environmentally friendly gardening, you can apply this to both suburban and urban landscape settings. What we're proud of here is that all of this display has been done by EPA Region 3 employees. We've done the design, forcing of the plants, and construction as well. And we'd like you to be able to say "this is beautiful and yet it's good for our environment." Native plants help attract pests that eat the "bad" pests that so frequently affect Asian and European species that are common in the landscape trade. Also, by helping reduce the use of water, and by composting, the waste stream into solid waste landfills as well as using our water supplies are diminished. Also it helps the gardener save costs.
