Household cleaners and chemicals can be dangerous in hurricane damaged homes. the Environmental Protection Agency urges you to be careful when re-entering your home. You should also exercise caution when disturbing building materials that may contain chipping or flaking asbestos in tiles, roofing or installation. Debris management programs, including household hazardous waste collection and disposal, are being established in hurricane affected areas. These programs may take days or weeks to be in place in your community.
