Welcome to the Southeastern States Air Quality Toolkit for Local Government Officials. The toolkit was developed through a collaboration of federal, state, regional, academic and private sector organizations or agencies. The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, in partnership with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 office, and the Tennessee Valley Authority established a relationship with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Georgia Power Company, the Georgia Clean Air Campaign, Tennessee Department of Transportation, and the Tennesee Department of Environment and Conservation to develop this user-friendly toolkit for distribution to local government elected and appointed officials throughout the southeastern United States. Research assistance was provided through the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. The toolkit includes resources such as case studies, summary and supporting information regarding clean air issues and implementation of local clean air program initiatives, useful contact information, and web links to numerous related sites. The toolkit also includes video interview clips with federal, state and local officials as well as business people and health professionals offering candid and realistic discussion as to how and why local officials must take an active role in protecting air quality.
