Ashland, WI - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are seeking public comment on the factors to be considered in choosing a cleanup option for the Ashland/ Northern States Power Lakefront Superfund Site. On Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at the AmericInn in Ashland, the agencies will be hosting a workshop to provide the public with an overview of clean-up options suitable for ground water, sediment and soil contamination and a description of the nine evaluation criteria the agencies must use when evaluating and selecting a clean-up plan.
Meeting attendees will be asked to participate in small group sessions and identify additional factors they would like the EPA, DNR and Northern States Power of Wisconsin to consider when evaluating the "community acceptance" criterion. Staff from both agencies will be available to discuss site issues before and after the meeting. A video of sediment cleanup technologies will be shown during this time for those that are interested.
