Stella, Missouri. EPA Region 7 Administrator John Askew was joined by representatives of EPA's Office of Research and Development and Kansas State University along with EPA staff at the Redevelopment Master Plan Rollout meeting for the Stella, Mo., community in 2007. Askew shared his vision for cities such as Stella and commended Stella residents for their efforts to improve the community. Verle Hansen, Office of Research and Development, explained the master plan at the meeting. Hansen previously conducted several visioning sessions to obtain feedback from the entire community to develop the plan. Kansas State University has worked with Stella in the use of the SMARTe approach, and will continue to assist the community with action items in the master plan. A representative from State Senator Gary Nodler's office also attended the meeting. - EPA has reached tentative agreement with EMCO, Enterprises, Inc., located in Des Moines, Iowa to conduct assessment and cleanup work at a contaminated site in Des Moines under the EPA Performance Track Partnership Program.
