EPA AWARDS KDHE AND LEAVENWORTH OVER $1 MILLION DOLLARS IN BROWNFIELDS FUNDS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), today, presented a check for $1,046,271 in brownfields funds to Governor Sebelius on behalf of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), and a check for $100,000 to Leavenworth Mayor Gasbarre.
KDHE will use these funds to help communities assess brownfield properties for redevelopment and cleanup. Leavenworth will use their funds for environmental assessment of hazardous substances in an abandoned warehouse district.
The checks were presented at a photo session in the State Capitol Building at 1:30 p.m.
