PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR EPA OUTREACH ON MERCURY EXPOSURE THROUGH FISH CONSUMPTION
EPA’s Office of Research and Development is sponsoring workshops in Kansas City, Kan. focused on communicating risks of mercury exposure through fish consumption.
Interested participants are invited from potential at-risk groups to participate in the workshops, as part of EPA’s process of evaluating mercury risk communication tools. Several educational risks communication tools will be presented and participants will be given the opportunity to provide feedback on the tools. They will learn how to reduce mercury exposure risks from fish consumption and will help assess the usefulness of these risk communication tools.
The following groups are eligible to participate: Women between 18-44 years of age, pregnant women, fishermen who eat their catch, and individuals who have cultural traditions for high fish consumption. Participants in the workshop will receive $40.
The workshops will be Thursday, July 8, at the EPA Region 7 office, 901
N. 5th Street, Kansas City, Kan. Participants may choose to attend one
of three sessions: 10 a.m. to noon;
2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; or 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
