EPA ADMINISTRATOR MIKE LEAVITT TO PRESENT $300,000 BROWNFIELDS
GRANT TO CITY OF SPRINGFIELD
What: EPA has selected the City of Springfield for a $300,000 brownfields assessment grant, which EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt will present to Mayor Tom Carlson at an October 4 ceremony. Hazardous substances grant funds ($150,000) and petroleum grant funds ($150,000) will both be used to conduct environmental assessments on properties in the city’s former industrial corridor, associated with their acquisition for the Jordan Valley Park project.
Who: Administrator Leavitt will be joined by Mayor Carlson, EPA Region 7 Administrator Jim Gulliford, and other dignitaries. Mayor Carlson will host the event.
