EPA ADMINISTRATOR TO TOUR OMAHA LEAD CLEANUP SITE AT CONGRESSMAN TERRY’S INVITATION; MAYOR FAHEY, GOVERNOR JOHANNS, HUD DIRECTOR TO JOIN TOUR
| What: EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt will tour the Omaha Superfund site Tuesday, at the invitation of U.S. Congressman Lee Terry. Superfund is the federal government’s program to clean up the nation’s hazardous waste sites. A section of east Omaha was placed on EPA’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 2003 after children and yards tested positive for high levels of lead. | |
| Who: Leavitt will be joined by Terry, Gov. Mike Johanns, Mayor Mike Fahey, Housing and Urban Development Director Stan Quy, EPA Region 7 Administrator Jim Gulliford; and other dignitaries. | |
