What: EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt will tour the Omaha Superfund site Tuesday, at the invitation of U.S. Congressman Lee Terry. Superfund is the federal government’s program to clean up the nation’s hazardous waste sites. Who: Leavitt will be joined by Terry, Gov. Mike Johanns, Mayor Mike Fahey, Housing and Urban Development Director Stan Quy, EPA Region 7 Administrator Jim Gulliford; and other dignitaries.
When: Tuesday, October 5, 1:45 p.m.
Where:

Meet at Rick’s Boat Yard, 345 Riverfront Drive.
Press can accompany the tour in their vehicles, stopping at a lead remediation site at 2025 Lake St., finally arriving at the press availability session around 2:45 p.m. at Shay’s Daycare, 2222 Pinkney.

Note: A school across the street from Shay’s Daycare will be dismissing during the availability session, so heavy traffic may be a concern.
