REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR TO JOIN STUDENTS & EDGERTON MAYOR TO COMMEMORATE WORLD WATER MONITORING DAY
EPA Region 7 Administrator Jim Gulliford will join about 30 students from Wheatridge Middle School and Edgerton, Kan., Mayor Frances Cross to test the water quality at Edgerton Lake, commemorating World Water Monitoring Day, which took place October 18.

Gulliford, Cross, EPA staff, and science teachers will help the students conduct water testing and improve their environmental science skills. Edgerton Lake is in the Hillsdale watershed. Gale Garber, director of the Hillsdale Water Quality Project, will also join the event.
World Water Monitoring Day, which is also the 32nd anniversary of the Clean Water Act, capped off a month-long monitoring effort when people throughout the world tested the quality of their local watersheds and entered the results into an international database.
Directions: I-35 south to first Edgerton exit (Sunflower Road), past Gardner Road exit (second exit for Gardner). Turn right on Sunflower Road. Go past cemetery and Martin Creek Park (both on left). Sunflower Road then curves to left. Enter Edgerton Lake Park entrance on left (before railroad tracks). Event site is about 45 minutes from Downtown KC. Please arrive between 11:45 a.m. and noon. We’ll escort reporters to the site at noon.
