Landfill Methane Outreach Program
The EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program encourages landfill owner/operators to turn a liability into an asset. Through this program, EPA is working with municipal solid waste landfill owners and operators, states, tribes, utilities, and other federal agencies to promote the use of landfill gas as an energy resource. Recovery of energy from landfill gas conveys local and global environmental benefits as well as economic benefits. The EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program is working to overcome the information, regulatory, and other barriers that prevent these otherwise economic projects from going forward. State and local entities are encouraged to join the program and work with the Agency to implement policies and projects on landfill methane gas use.
