Best Workplaces for Commuters

The Commuter Choice Leadership Initiative (CCLI) had a name change to Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) in July 2003. The elements of the program did not change and this remains a voluntary program that establishes a "Standard of Excellence" in commuting benefits that an employer (private or public sector) may offer to employees. When an employer agrees to become a BWC participant, they commit to offering a variety of commuting options to employees that make real impacts on air quality and congestion.

The U.S. tax code has changed so that employees enjoy a reduced tax burden when taking advantage of these commuting options. Likewise, U.S. employers enjoy a reduced tax burden when providing commuting benefits that encourage these commuting options.

In Region 7, we have 18 companies that have met the standard of excellence and are BWC employers. In addition, Region 7 offers the Midwest Commuter Choice Program (MCCP).
