CLEANING YELLOWSTONE and GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARKS
This report (in PDF format) documents the process that the National Park Service
and two consultants used at Yellowstone and Grand
Teton National Parks
to introduce environmentally preferable janitorial products.
The environmentally preferable cleaning products used at Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks were not registered by EPA as tuberculocidal or HIV-1/ Hepatitis B disinfectants. OSHA's blood-borne pathogen rule (29 CFR 1910, 1030) requires that when workers encounter blood-borne pathogens, they must use a product registered by EPA as a tuberculocidal (List B) or HIV-1 / Hepatitis B (List D) disinfectant for those situations. Examples of active ingredients in products registered as tuberculocidal disinfectants include citric acid, and sodium hypochlorite at various solutions. List B and List D can be found at National Antimicrobial Information Network.
