The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with the California Air Resources Board, the South Coast and San Joaquin Valley Air Districts, and the California Environmental Protection Agency, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) (PDF) (6 pp, 3.0M, About PDF) on July 9, 2008 at the California Emerging Technology Forum held at the University of California, Merced. This MOA committed such agencies to develop and test new sustainable technologies to potentially accelerate progress in meeting current and future national air quality standards. The California Emerging Technology Forum is a collaborative effort between the EPA, the California Air Resources Board, the South Coast and San Joaquin Valley Air Districts, and the California Environmental Protection Agency to accelerate the development and implementation of technologies to achieve air quality goals. These agencies sponsored a one-day public forum, which focused on a variety of mobile and stationary source technologies.
