Environmental Education Grants Program

Teaching environmental issues

Region 9's Environmental Education grant program provides financial support for projects that increase public awareness about environmental issues and provide the public with skills to make informed decisions and take responsible actions. Educational agencies, colleges, universities, state educational or environmental agencies, not-for-profit organizations and noncommercial educational broadcasting entities are eligible.

Regional offices accept and process applications up to $50,000. It is a competitive program; matching funds of 25% of the total grant are required. The likelihood of funding increases with more modest requests; a significant amount of the regional allocation is targeted for requests of $10,000 or less. EPA's national Office of Environmental Education awards grants of more than $50,000.

Information on applying for a grant is available from EPA's Environmental Education Grant Program.
