Rethinking Tourism and Ecotravel: The Paving of Paradise and What You Can Do to Stop It.
By Deborah McLaren, Kumarian Press, 1998. (182 pages)

"Deborah Mclaren presents a comprehensive overview of the hirsoty and global development of tourism, often considered the largest industry in the world; an industry that has promised great benefits to hosts and guests alike while often resulting in some very stark and painful consequences for local host communities and environment. No study of the globalization of the world's economy and industry can afford to ignore the impact that tourism is having in an ever shrinking world where wealth is concentrated in fewer and fewer hands - - and within this important book the impact of tourism is thoroughly explored."

"Most people are concerned about the environment and don't want to pollute -- yet, every time they fly, their airplane contributes to the problem of Global Warming. Show your client that you are concerned too. You can make their trip a Global Cooling experience by planting trees that will absorb more carbon dioxide than their trip generates. The program is called Trees for Travel. As proof of the trees that have been planted, we will provide a Trees for Travel certificate for each of your clients." (COST: $50 US dollars = 50 certificates)
