Sample Receipt, Login and Storage
Summary
The purpose of this SOP is to describe all activities concerning receipt, login, and storage of environmental samples at the USEPA Region 9 Laboratory, with exceptions noted below (Section 2.0). Appropriate and consistent sample handling and documentation during sample receipt and login is crucial to assuring the integrity, validity, and identity of samples analyzed at the laboratory. Mistakes during sample login will often render subsequent analyses invalid. Inadequate documentation of the condition of samples upon receipt render analytical results of unknown quality.
