Region 9 State Toxics Release Inventory Programs and Compliance Assistance

According to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, regulated facilities must submit toxics release reports to both the federal and the state government. Some states have additional requirements. For example, Arizona has more stringent threshold requirements for toxics release reporting than the federal government and publishes a report every year with state-specific results. Below is a description of the Toxics Release Inventory programs, including compliance assistance for industry, in the Region 9 states of Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.

Arizona

In addition to the federal threshold requirements for toxics release reporting, Arizona requires facilities that generate a certain amount of toxic waste to submit reports. Refer to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality page for the Arizona reporting requirements. Exiting EPA (disclaimer)

Compliance assistance workshops, with line by line instruction for completing the toxics release reporting forms, are held by the Arizona Emergency Response Commission. Refer to the Arizona home page Exiting EPA (disclaimer) for more information on the Emergency Response Commission and the upcoming workshops. EPA Region 9 also sponsors workshops in Arizona for facilities. For more information about EPA Region 9 workshops, contact a staff member.
