State Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Project
The State of Hawaii supported and tracked state agency environmentally preferable purchasing. During the project, the state's survey found that 90% of State agency office paper purchases have recycled content paper and more than $750,000 was spent overall on recycled content products. The paper purchases alone resulted in the following environmental savings:
- 1,628 trees
- 488,460 gallons of water
- 286,089 kilowatt hours of electricity
- 4,187 pounds of air pollution
