Encyclon 40 gallon per minute self prime filter

The Encyclon solution is a closed-loop cyclonic filtration system designed to remove particulate matter from the wash water. Wash water contaminates are removed down to 5-microns with a 98% efficiency rate, on the first pass. The waste or "swarf" is automatically discharged from the unit into a separate container. The system uses long lasting cyclonic filtration cones. There are no filter bags to clog or sand to flush, because NO FILTER MEDIA IS REQUIRED. The System is designed to continually re- circulate the wash water, making it a ZERO DISCHARGE SOULUTION.

Overview and flow diagram of the Encyclon marina filter

The typical marina filtration system is designed with Encyclon components that can be purchased as a complete system that includes a self-prime unit and tanks. We also supply the required parts to build and install your own system.

The recycle system can be broken down into three basic components: Drain Basin, Pumps, and Filter.

 Applications

Wash
Collection
Filtration
Recycle
Reuse
Pollution Prevention

We have a 33 year history of applications using our filter cones. Including:

Marinas, Car wash, Food Processing, Stone Cutting, Honing, lapping, grinding, water jet cutting, waster wash paint booths, and many more. References and filter testing are readily available.

 Performance

The performance of the self-prime marina system is available in 3 or 5 micron filtration with a 98% efficiency rating on the FIRST PASS through the filter cones. Since the water is continually re-used and NEVER DISCHARGED this is more than adequate for the performance of your pressure washer. Due to the centrifugal force generated during cyclonic filtration, heavier items filter at a more efficient rate. This means that lead, copper, and other heavy metals filter exceptionally well.

 Inspections/Maintenance

Since there is no filter media to replace, maintenance is relatively low. We recommend the use of a pre-screen or strainer basket in the collection basin, this screen needs periodically cleaned. The filter cones require no maintenance themselves. The lower cyclonic chamber is made of ceramic for wear resistance; this cone can last for quite a long time in this application. (Depending on use) As for replacement of the cone, it is a 60 second process. At the time of this writing, a replacement cone costs 54 dollars.

 Costs

As of the 2007 price lists, our electric unit is priced starting at $4,698.00 (10 GPM 5 micron) F.O.B Kenosha, Wisconsin

 Longevity

The system is designed for thousands of hours of use. We have supplied the same replacement parts and pumps since 1974, and will continue to do so.

 Secondary Beneficial Impacts/Adverse Impacts

The closed loop system provides a significant reduction in water usage. If you consider a 5 gallon per min. pressure washer, the system provides 300 gallons per hour in fresh water savings. Assuming a marina washed 500 hulls at 15 min. each this would provide an annual water savings of 37,500 gallons. As for adverse impacts, the unit will consume electricity or fuel required for operation of the pump. We offer electric and gas models.

 Potential Problems & Solutions

I see a potential problem with the collection of rainwater depending on the design of the slipway. We have discussed first flush divert valves to allow for a rinse of the wash area, then diversion of the clean rainwater. This is a common practice in other industries with wash down pads. At the current time this has not been an issue.

 Delivery Time

Many Items are In-Stock, most complete systems ship in around 3-5 weeks.

 Pretreatment

A pre-screen is recommended for large sludge that could clog the filter cones. The discharge orifice on our 5-micron cone is around .230"; a pre-screen of .125" or 1/8" is suitable. We offer fabricated screen baskets as an option.

 Disposal of Effluent

The system is Closed Loop. There is no treated solution to dispose of, only the wet solids removed from the effluent.
