January Event
| Name: |
EPA's New Air Quality Regulations for Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE) |
| Type: |
Workshop/Webinars |
| Date: |
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 |
| Time: |
9-11 A.M. |
| Location: |
Workshop will be held at the EPA Regional Lab North Chelmsford, MA |
| Description: |
A workshop/webinar is a live workshop that is also broadcast over the Internet as a webinar. EPA will host two free workshop/webinars, Wednesday, January 11, 2012, and Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 9:00 to 11:00 am, Eastern Standard Time. The same program will be presented on both days.
The new National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for stationary Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE) affect both emergency and non-emergency uses. RICE are used for generating electricity and to power pumps and compressors in many industrial, agricultural, and municipal operations. Under this rule, facilities with stationary emergency engines will need to track their use to avoid exceeding a 50 hour per year limit on non-emergency use. Some non-emergency stationary engines will be subject to emission limits (which may require retrofit) and requirements to submit initial notifications that were due in August 2010 for diesel engines and February 2011 for gasoline engines. See http://www.epa.gov/region1/rice for more information on these requirements.
The workshop/webinars will discuss applicability of the rules, emission standards and other compliance requirements, compliance deadlines, and what elements of the RICE NESHAP are currently being reconsidered, compliance assistance tools on how to comply with the rules, likely compliance issues, and the impact of the rules on affected sectors.
Space is limited and registration is required.
You can attend the webinar over the Internet or attend the workshop in person at the EPA Region 1 Laboratory in North Chelmsford, MA. In the event of a major snowstorm, the onsite workshop portion of the event will be canceled and the event will be conducted exclusively as a webinar. Register online at http://www.epa.gov/region1/rice/workshopwebinar.html. You will be able to log on to the webinar by 8:30 a.m. |
