Questions About Your Community: Recycling
Recycling rates are reported every two years. The latest figures are from 2007 and indicate that recycling and composting programs recovered 33% of municipal solid waste generated in the country or 85 million tons. On average, Americans generate 4.62 pounds of trash per person per day. In the Northeast approximately 84% of the population has access to curbside recycling programs at their home which is the highest rate in the country.
