'Flagship' Beaches
Flagship beaches are high-use beaches that were selected by each state for targeted attention, through enhanced beach monitoring assessments and pollution management. Other beaches will be able to learn from these “Flagship beaches” and implement tools and ideas that would work at their own beach.

Flagship Beaches...
- Conduct frequent monitoring for indicator bacteria
- Notify the public of water quality conditions on a regular basis
- Assess and reduce non-point and storm water pollution sources
- Assess and eliminate any discharges of untreated sewage
Each of the five coastal New England states chose 1 to 3 'Flagship' beaches:
