Environmental Justice Funding

Updates

On Jun. 22, 2006, EPA issued Requests for Applications (RFAs) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2006 Environmental Justice Small Grants Program (EJSG) and the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program (EJ CPS). The application deadline for the two competitive programs is Oct. 23, 2006.

Earlier RFAs were released for both programs on Feb. 1, 2006, but were cancelled. Any organization that applied under the earlier RFAs must submit a new application because significant changes to the criteria and application instructions have been made. Links to the new RFAs are provided below. In FY 2005, four EJSG projects were selected in the New England region. Each project was awarded $25,000 in 2005 totaling $100,000 awarded in the region. The recipients include the Lawrence Environmental Action Group in Massachusetts, the New Haven Ecology Project in Connecticut, the Stafford Historical Society in Vermont and the Southside Community Land Trust in Providence, R.I. Environmental Justice Small Grants Program

The purpose of this grant program is to support and empower communities that are working on local solutions to local environmental and public health issues. In addition, the EJSG aims to assist recipients in building collaborative partnerships. These partnerships help recipients understand and address the environmental and public health issues in their communities. Read a detailed fact sheet about the program.
