Re: Reminder of October 26 CCC Meeting

As you know, there will be a meeting of the Citizens Coordinating Council for the EPA-GE Housatonic cleanup on October 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Berkshire South Community Center, 15 Crissey Road in Great Barrington. The meeting is open to the public. Directions are included below.

This meeting will focus on the proposal from GE for the Interim Media Protection Goals (IMPGs or preliminary cleanup goals) for the Rest of River, which extends beyond Pittsfield south into Connecticut. There will be a presentation about the IMPGs as well as discussion and questions about the use of the IMPGs in the Rest of River decision making process. EPA is seeking informal feedback from the CCC about the GE proposal prior to providing formal comments on the proposal to GE in November. The full proposal of IMPGs submitted to EPA by GE can be viewed at www.epa.gov/region1/ge. Click on Rest of River, and the IMPG proposal is in the section called GE Reports and Documents, towards the bottom of the page.

For this meeting, we will have several new members joining the discussion. There will be an orientation session for the new members at the Berkshire South Community Center at 4:30 PM on the day of the meeting. The orientation is open to all continuing CCC members as well. A list of new and continuing members and the organizations they represent will be distributed along with the meeting agenda in the week before the meeting.

Directions to Berkshire South Community Center

Berkshire South is located at the end of Crissey Road, off Route 7 (Stockbridge Road) in Gt. Barrington. Crissey Road is just north of The Price Chopper Shopping Center and just south of the Jenifer House Commons.

From Stockbridge and points north:
At the intersection of Route 102 & Route 7, take Route 7 South towards Gt. Barrington. You will pass the intersection to Route 183 on your right. After you pass Jennifer House Commons on your left, make your first left turn onto Crissey Road. Berkshire South is located at the end of Crissey Road.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike:
Take Exit #2 off the Mass Turnpike and follow Route 102 toward Stockbridge. Follow directions above.

From the intersection of Route 7 & Route 23 and points south:
Take Route 7 north through the town of Gt. Barrington. Crissey Road is the first right hand turn after the light at the Price Chopper Shopping Center. Berkshire South is located at the end of Crissey Road.

From Route 22 :
At the intersection of Routes 22 & 23, turn onto Route 23 east. Proceed east on Route 23 passing Catamount Ski area and the town of South Egremont until you reach the intersection of Route 23 and Route 7. Turn left on Route 7 north and follow the directions above.

BUS:
Let the driver know, and BRTA Bus Route #21 will stop at the front door of Berkshire South. Route #21 runs from Gt. Barrington to Lee.
