EPA New England Regional Laboratory (Office of Environmental Measurement and Evaluation)
The Investigations Team is a group of environmental scientists and engineers that inspect facilities for compliance with EPA regulations. The Team also supports various EPA programs by providing sample collection and field monitoring capabilities.
The Investigations Team provides the following services:
- Environmental Sampling: Collection of soil, sediment, water, air, waste and building materials. Available sample collection tools include: Geoprobe (direct push machine/in-situ sampler), vapor/water diffusion samplers, low-flow groundwater monitoring well samplers, summa air canisters, isokinetic impinger/filter sampling train for aerosol emissions (EPA methods 1-5, 23, 29, 306) and sediment dredges.
- Compliance Monitoring: Emission stack testing observations, Clean Water Act Inspection/Sampling (NPDES, SPCC, Storm Water and Pretreatment), Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) audits, Bulk Terminal inspections, Hazardous Organic NESHAPS(HON)/leak detection and repair sampling, RCRA and TSCA sampling, Risk Management Plan audits, and TRI/EPCRA inspections.
- Technical Support: Emission Stack Test Document Reviews, Air Audit Sample Assistance, Reconnaissance/Targeting, Alternative Emission Test Method Development/Assessment, and Field Sample Development.
