Waste Site Cleanup & Reuse in New England
Success Village, Bridgeport, Conn.
About 1,500 gallons of fuel oil spilled at Success Village at 100 Court St. in Bridgeport, Conn., after a fuel line in the boiler room broke. Much of the oil was removed by a sump pump into a storm drain that discharges to the Yellow Mill River and then to Long Island Sound. The release was reported to the Conn. Department of Environmental Protection the next day. A cleanup contractor was hired by DEP to address oil in the storm drain and the river. The US Coast Guard also responded to the scene because the Yellow Mill River discharges into the Long Island Sound.
