Air Monitoring Information
Charter Environmental continues to monitor the four sampling locations during intrusive / destructive site activities during the 8 -hour day for dust particulates.
The four perimeter sampling stations are set up in the following locations:
Station 1 -- Site fence gate on Pleasant Street
Station 2 -- Site fence on east end of Church Street
Station 3 -- Site fence on bike path at Tripp Street
Station 4 -- Site fence at bike path near Adams Street
The dust particulate and asbestos sampling results recorded at each station every hour in a monitoring log. These results are compared to the action levels established for each parameter. These action levels are concentrations at which it is deemed unsafe and work would have to stop.
Results of the air monitoring data has shown that exposure of unsafe conditions to workers in the exclusion zone and to the public is well below the actions levels.
Dust Particulate Monitoring -- The National Ambient Air Quality standard for particulates is 150 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) over an average of 24 hours. This value will be used, however, for a one hour period. Heavy metal presence is factored into determination of this action level. The average levels recorded at these locations range from 0 to 0.063 (µg/m3), with most readings valued at zero. The maximum level for this week is also recorded and ranges from 0.010 to 4.265 (µg/m3).
Asbestos Monitoring - Asbestos monitoring has been discontinued. All abatement measures have been completed, therefore monitoring is no longer required.
Actual Data - Below are tables showing the average and maximum dust particulate readings taken at each sampling location during the week of December 19 through December 23.
