Now What? The bus station is at 75 Airport Road (the Augusta Airport). There is no mass transit in Augusta, but there is taxi service. The taxi costs less than $10.00 to get to ME DEP's offices, and there are two taxi companies – Al's Double Taxi Service at (207) 622-5846 or Minuteman Taxi (207) 623-2500.

Take the commuter rail from North Station to Lowell Transit Center, where a city bus (Lowell Regional Transit) will take you within easy walking distance of the EPA Regional Laboratory. Or you can call your Lab colleague, or Sylvia Estabrook at the Lab (617-918-8322), to arrange a ride from the Lowell Transit center to the Lab.

Lowell Transit Center (one way) bus fare is $1.00. A zone 6 (one way) from North Station to Lowell Transit Center via commuter rail fare is $6.75

Now What? The bus stop (30 Stickney Ave.) is about two miles from the NH DES offices at 29 Hazen Drive, and it is not an easy walk. For a cab, call 603-225-4222

Now what? Walk 1/2 mile from bus station (1 Union Place) diagonally across Bushnell Park to DEP (79 Elm St), or go via streets as follows: head east on Asylum Ave. with the park on your right, turn right on Ford St. (which becomes Jewell St.), turn right on Trinity St. which cuts through the park to Elm St., where you take a left and continue to 79 Elm.

Now what? Walk 1/4 mile from the train station (Route 105/Main St. at Commercial St.) to DEP (20 Riverside Drive). Walk left down Route 105/Main St. (away from 495) 1/4 mile. Turn left in driveway with green Lakeville Corporate Park sign. This is Riverside Drive. DEP is the second red brick office building on the right.

The train leaves from North Station. A good option for afternoon meetings only, since the first train from Boston arrives in Portland at 12:30 pm. Last train for Boston leaves Portland at 4:05 p.m.

Travel time (one way) is about two hours. Buses leave starting at 8:00 a.m., and the first bus arrives in Portland at 10:00 a.m.

Travel time (one way) is about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Buses leave starting at 6:00 am, and the first bus arrives in Portland at 8:15 am.

Now what? The bus and train stations are all about 6 miles from the DEP offices at 312 Canco Road. A taxi ride costs $15 and takes 15 minutes. Another option is to take the Greater Portland Metro. Take bus number 5 to the main downtown station ("Metro Pulse") at Elm Street, and transfer to the number 6 bus. The number 6 bus will take you to the intersection of Canco Road and Washington Street. Trip time is about 45 minutes and fare is about $2.50 round trip. See www.gpmetrobus.com.

Now what? The bus and train station (110 Gaspee Street) is a ten minute walk to the DEM offices at 235 Promenade Steet. The front of the station faces the striking Rhode Island State House and the new Providence Place Mall. From the train station take a left to the “Cheese Cake Factory.” Walk along the side of the mall and take a right, walking to the next light at the bottom of the hill. Make a right hand turn onto Promenade Street, and the DEM is the first building on your right. The are elevators to the left; go to the second floor, Suite 250, for DEM Information.

Now what? Walk 1/4 mile from the bus station (1776 Main St) to DEP (436 Dwight St). Walk southeast on Main St, crossing the train tracks, and turn left on Lyman St. Pass Kaynor St on your right and take a right on Dwight St.

Now what? Walk 3/4 mile (“12 minute walk”) from commuter rail station (Washington Square) to DEP (627 Main Street). Walk clockwise around Washington Square, starting with Route 290 on your right, until you see Old Mechanics St. on your right; take that right. At the end of Old Mechanics St, Johnson and Wales University and the Worcester Common Outlets will be in front of you across Worcester Center Blvd. If you can, walk straight through the University/Outlets campus until you hit Main St. If not, take a left onto Worcester Center Blvd., then a right on Franklin St. You’ll pass the rest of the University/Outlets campus on your right, then pass Worcester Common Park on your right. Turn left on Main St. and walk to 627 Main St.

Travel time (one way) is one hour 20 minutes.
Now what? Walk 1/4 mile from bus station (75 Madison St.) to DEP (627 Main Street); the two are within sight distance of each other. Walk northwest (away from train tracks and Frances McGrath Blvd) on Madison St., turn right on Southbridge St., turn left on Myrtle St, and turn left on Main St.
