Project Title: Green Restaurant Initiative
EPA Funding: $83,000
Project Summary: NYSRAEF will train New York City restaurants to “green” their operations to reduce water and energy consumption (and thereby reduce greenhouse gas emissions), save money and reduce hazardous material releases. NYSRAEF will provide eight training sessions to restaurants on greening techniques such as using water-saving devices, eco-friendly cleaning products, and energy-efficient equipment. NYSRAEF will create an informational workbook, website and telephone hotline and e-mail contact to provide ongoing assistance to restaurants.

Northeast Waste Management Officials' Association (NEWMOA)
Project Title: Energy & Materials Flow & Cost Track Software Application: Developing Case Studies & Measuring Results
EPA Funding: $41,000
Project Summary: NEWMOA will train three businesses in New Jersey and New York to use their Energy and Materials Flow and Cost Tracker (EMFACT™) software tool which tracks materials, water and energy use, waste water discharges, air emissions, and associated costs. The target businesses will be small to medium-sized manufacturing businesses and they will use this EMFACT tool to identify opportunities to prevent pollution in their operations. NEWMOA will document the lessons learned as case studies which will be shared with similar businesses.
